Skillful Speech & Nonviolent Communication Foundations

Video Conference

Now, more than ever, our nation and society need skilled communicators:

  • people who know how to listen actively, deeply, using the learned skill of empathy to open their capacity for compassionate connection, and...
  • people who know how to speak their own needs with clarity and honesty, and without demand energy, shaming, blaming, or vitriol.

We need skilled people who can walk their talk in strength and integrity so that together, we can do the hard work of "making life more wonderful" for all our fellow human beings. We need these skills in our homes, our workplaces, and our communities. And these days, that is especially needed for those who would stand up and speak up for Black Lives Matter.

If you are inspired to learn, develop, and apply these skills in your relationships, then please join Doyle Banks for the Skillful Speech & Nonviolent Communication Foundations Fall 2020 course. Some of what you will learn includes:

  • how to listen to others, even when they are angry, and stay connected to yourself AND them
  • how to take care of yourself when you feel overwhelmed, depressed, afraid, or confused
  • how to increase the chances of getting what you need/want when you make requests of others.

In addition to teaching you the skills of Nonviolent Communication, Doyle will bring his training as a mindfulness mediation teacher to help you learn how to reduce stress and increase peace in your life.

The course will be held online in a secure environment in which you will get plenty of content plus lots of interactive practice time in breakout groups. This can be an opportunity to learn while forming new friendships that often last years after the class has finished.

We will start with a half-day online workshop/"retreat" on Saturday, September 12, from 10:00am to 3:00pm Pacific with a one hour lunch break. The remaining ten classes will meet on consecutive Tuesday evenings from 7:00pm to 9:00pm Pacific, starting on September 15, 2020.

Scholarships are available. Also, our policy is that no one will be turn away for lack of funds. If you need assistance, please mark the online registration form accordingly so that we can make arrangements for you.

We look forward to meeting you and joining you on this journey to happier, healthier relationships.

Peace & Joy, to you and yours.
