Communicating for Peace - for young people (ages 14 - 20)

This is a four-day workshop for young people (ages 14 - 20) interested in communicating more compassionately with themselves and others and peacefully resolving conflicts. No previous experience with Nonviolent Communication necessary.

You'll participate in interactive role plays, art projects, and reflective conversations to improve your ability to:

  • Listen to others
  • Express what's important to you
  • Prevent your Inner Critic from getting you down
  • Understand people with different points of view
  • Resolve conflicts peacefully

Josh offers classes in Nonviolent Communication through the City of Eugene Recreation Services, where he also works as a challenge course facilitator / outdoor program instructor. He first read Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life in 2005 and attended an International Intensive Training in New Mexico with Marshall Rosenberg and CNVC Trainers Rodger Sorrows and John Kinyon in 2008. Over the years, Josh has attended a handful of classes and workshops taught by Portland-based CNVC Trainer LaShelle Lowe-Charde.

Additionally, Josh has regularly practiced sitting meditation for the last ten years and has an interest in healthy masculinity.
