About ORNCC

Mission:
To provide conflict resolution and communication training, educational materials and practice groups. Founded in September 2001, the Oregon Network for Compassionate Communication (ORNCC) is a regional non-profit association of people who envision a world in which all people's needs are met compassionately. We are committed to living and teaching the process of Nonviolent CommunicationSM (NVC), which strengthens the ability of people to connect compassionately with themselves and one another, to share resources and to resolve conflicts peacefully.

ORNCC offers regional support for the Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC), a global organization whose vision we share. ORNCC supports the Oregon and Southern Washington community by coordinating information regarding NVC workshops and practice groups, and making NVC materials available for sale. With these tools, we contribute to our vision by helping to create life-serving systems within ourselves, interpersonally and within organizations.

The ORNCC State Coordinator and Board of Directors support the statewide development and sustainability of the organization. The Board of Directors meets quarterly or as often as needed. Officer and member roles are volunteer-based, and typically run for a one-year term. Modeling NVC in our group interactions, leadership, one-on-one interactions, and consensus decision-making is an important learning goal for all members of the statewide leadership team.
